“Smart Sustainable Cities” is the theme of the conference in recognition of the ongoing evolution in the MENA region that focuses on the deployment of “smart” technologies, operating principles, and policies.
“A Smart Sustainable City (SSC) is an innovative city that uses Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and other means to improve the quality of life, the efficiency of urban operations and services, and competitiveness, while ensuring that it meets the needs of present and future generations with respect to economic, social and environmental aspects.” ~ITU
The theme also highlights the importance of IoT technologies in making Smart Sustainable Cities applications a reality. All the projects, papers, posters, presentations, and events at the conference are focused on contributing to nurture, cultivate, and accelerate the adoption of IoT technologies and applications to benefit society.
