Celebrating a quarter-century of shaping the modeling world, Models.com has quietly become the go-to digital hub for models, agencies, and artists—yet its 25th anniversary demanded a spotlight. To mark the occasion, the company hosted its very first dinner on Tuesday, kicking off NYFW with a star-studded celebration. But here’s where it gets intriguing: while Models.com is typically behind the scenes, this event brought it front and center, surrounded by industry icons like Paloma Elsesser, Georgia Fowler, Grace Elizabeth, Alton Mason, Jill Kortleve, and Calum Harper at Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya.
The journey hasn’t always been smooth. Editor-in-Chief Stephan Moskovic reminisced about the early days, recalling a fiery email from David Bonnouvrier of DNA: ‘Who the f–k are you guys? Where do you get your information?’ That moment, Moskovic noted, was a turning point. ‘We hit a nerve,’ he said, emphasizing how organically the platform has evolved over 25 years.
And this is the part most people miss: the game-changing shift came in 2008 when Models.com opened its database to the public. Initially, the platform ranked models based on covers, editorials, shows, and campaigns—a meticulous system. But by allowing industry professionals to claim their own pages and showcase their credits, Models.com became more than just a ranking site; it became a stamp of authority and credibility. ‘Today, if you’re in the industry, you have your Instagram and your Models.com page,’ Moskovic explained. ‘The latter gives you legitimacy.’
Controversial question: In an era dominated by social media, does a Models.com profile still hold the same weight as it did a decade ago? Or has Instagram become the ultimate arbiter of a model’s success? Let’s spark the debate—share your thoughts in the comments below!
