What exactly is "dementia face," and could a certain controversial figure be exhibiting its signs? This past month, a significant portion of the American populace—those eager for change, at least—has been collectively wishing for the departure of this individual. The desire for his exit couldn't come soon enough for many.
Just last week, following an incident involving Tr*mp’s visibly deteriorating hand and an unplanned stop by Air Force One that briefly raised hopes, we find ourselves back in a familiar place: fervently wishing, hoping, and praying for an end to the chaotic era we've been enduring.
Despite Trmp apparently resembling a mere animated shell of his former self, he remains surprisingly active in public life. A recent profile featured in New York Magazine explored his seemingly robust health. Although Trmp threatened legal action against the magazine for probing into his condition, the report wasn't as damaging as some might expect—depending on one's perspective. According to him, the unsettling bruise on his hand is just a result of shaking hands, and his tendency to doze off during meetings? He simply claims he's a naturally sleepy person!

Nevertheless, one TikTok creator is steadfast in their belief. In a video discussing the term "dementia face," user @EpistemicCrisis argues that there’s something atypical about Tr*mp's facial appearance. As a physical therapist with a PhD and 14 years of experience, he confidently asserts that dementia can indeed alter one’s facial features. He remarks, "This kind of face is commonly seen in nursing homes or memory care facilities."
He elaborates that the condition often leads to increased facial asymmetry due to drooping or impaired motor responses. Referencing photographs from last year’s 9/11 memorial, he points out how one side of Tr*mp's face appeared to sag dramatically. This drooping, he suggests, could indicate a recent stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA). Moreover, he posits that dementia, such as Alzheimer’s, could also explain these changes.
Many who were skeptical of the New York profile share a similar sentiment. Recent events in Minnesota have shown that it's not unusual for the Oval Office to obscure the truth about what is evident to everyone, hoping that official statements will somehow overshadow visual evidence.
One commenter shared, "I’m about 90% sure he’s had a stroke or at least a TIA. My father experienced a stroke in the right hemisphere of his brain, and my grandfather had one on the left. Watching Trump speak and move, I can't help but notice the similarities."
Another added, "If White House doctors were mandated to openly discuss the health of a sitting president, we likely wouldn’t have seen Reagan serve a second term, and speculation about Joe Biden might be non-existent." They pointed out that while physicians employed by Tr*mp can provide evaluations and treatment, any medical professional claiming Trump's health is "perfect" is being dishonest.
Indeed, it’s hard to dismiss the signs. Regardless of whether it’s referred to as dementia face or not, there seems to be little indication of good health in Trmp, and many have noticed this for quite some time. Have we forgotten the troubling saga involving his former doctor, Harold Bornstein, who penned a letter during Trmp’s presidency proclaiming his perfect health, only to later reveal that Tr*mp had actually authored it? Not to mention, Bornstein’s untimely passing shortly after being dismissed from the administration adds another layer of intrigue.
Amid discussions of hand issues, facial drooping, and Tr*mp's inability to recall the term "Alzheimer’s" when discussing his supposedly excellent health, we may finally be approaching a clearer understanding of his actual condition.
According to Epistemic, "These are the eyes of someone suffering from dementia," which can occur when a patient's brain struggles to process visual information. This often results in the "glassy-eyed" or "vacant" look that has become all too familiar in recent times—whether we like it or not.
There’s a troubling undertone to this situation, much like the extra Big Mac that Tr*mp might keep stashed away for emergencies.
