LoRa (short for long range) is a spread spectrum modulation technique derived from chirp spread spectrum (CSS) technology. Semtech’s LoRa devices and wireless radio frequency technology (LoRa Technology) is a long range, low power wireless platform that has become the de facto technology for Internet of Things (IoT) networks worldwide. LoRa Technology and the open LoRaWAN® protocol enable smart IoT applications that solve some of the biggest challenges facing our planet: energy management, natural resource reduction, pollution control, infrastructure efficiency, disaster prevention, and more. Semtech’s LoRa Technology has amassed several hundred known uses cases for smart cities, smart homes and buildings, smart agriculture, smart metering, smart supply chain and logistics, and more. With 105 million devices connected to networks in 100 countries and growing, LoRa Technology is the DNA of IoT, creating a Smarter Planet.

Building your LoRaWAN end-to-end use case.
Develop with LoRaWAN technology during this hands-on workshop. Learn how to harvest sensor data, how to communicate wirelessly using The Things Network and how to connect to a 3rd party cloud dashboards to act on the sensor data.
For this workshop, a laptop is required
Laurens will share the journey of The Things Network. From covering the city of Amsterdam in 2015 to today's scalable, multi-region deployment which routes over 15 Million messages a day. He’ll share his vision of the future of LoRaWAN and sheds light on how to develop with LoRaWAN. From an initial prototype to a secure and large-scale deployment.
Laurens Slats is the community manager of The Things Network and LoRaWAN Solutions Architect of The Things Industries. He works on the global rollout of the open and crowdsourced Internet of Things data network with the help of communities worldwide, and he supports businesses with the implementation of LoRaWAN technology in over 90 countries worldwide.
It will be held as a part of GCIoT 2019 for over three days.
